Hello, we recently had to remove everything in our large backyard due to our mini beagle getting SARDS, which caused her to go blind. We had a large shed, flag pole, flower pots, etc that we had to clear out so she could be comfortable walking around without bumping into things. This left us with an ugly, large slab of patio where the shed resided, and lots of bare space.
Our baby ended up passing away a few weeks ago…
We now would love to redo our yard with tons of plants, flowers and a rock garden in her memory, but on the cheap, for we spent over $5000 since last July on her medical bills.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
Thank you

I am entering this sweepstakes for a backyard giveaway. I recently purchased my home and prior to closing on the sale the septic needed to be replaced. I purchased the home with the impression that the yard would be graded and grass would be replanted by the company that installed the septic as I was led to believe by the previous owners. The sellers basically lied to me as the company that installed the septic never agreed to come back. I have had a disgusting mud pit of a backyard since September and on my budget I worry that the yard will never look good. It is frustrating for me as a young homeowner and would like to have a backyard retreat to enjoy on my time off as I am a special needs teacher who also works part-time as a waitress and attend college part-time pursuing my master’s degree. I would love a backyard urban oasis and can’t help but feel that I deserve it.

Hello I am entering my husband and I. We were married 6 months ago and my husband wanted to build a new deck and clean up our ignored backyard as my wedding gift. however he had a massive heart attack just 3 weeks ago. i am begging him to leave it alone now as he needs to rest. he was also wrongful dismissed from his job a week and a half prior to having this heart attack. the employer stated that since he has an injured back they need to terminate him since it is an active job. If we won this contest I know he would feel good that what i truly wanted (a backyard sanctuary) would be not only restful for me but him too to recover.

Hello, I am entering this contest because we just bought our home at the end of April. We have been praying for our own home since 2008 when God had us relocate to North Carolina from Ohio. Since then we have had many things happen to us as a family. We were blessed for our oldest daughter to be alive after being struck by a car in 2012 and died twice and suffer brain injury. She lives with us with her 6 year old also along with our other 2. We finally got the house of our dreams but the yard front and back is the worse yard on the street and area. We would love to have our yard made beautiful and our deck to be made safer for our granddaughter. It is alot to do but it is not in our budget and I feel we really are the big eye sore on the street and surrounding area. We have tried diy but nothing is helping.

Hello, I’ve decided to give it a shot. It’s been 25 yrs without a real backyard. Spent 10 yrs lot clearing and I’m exhausted. I’m in beach sand and have nothing but weeds and 50×100 lot. Nice lot have no clue what to do. But it’s my dream too see it complete one day. Lots of potential here. I just feel it’s a challenge . Thanks for listening.

Hi there,
I am a grandmother who lives in Canada. I want to stay in my house for many more years but am disabled and now on a seniors income. I have a corner lot so my house gets viewed on 3 sides. The house looks good but my backyard is awful. It is the way I get in and out every day and frankly I just cringe. We have so few days a year to get outside to enjoy the weather here. It’s May and still too cold to put out flower baskets. I would love to have a backyard makeover (to invite company over). Last year I barely got outside because it seems so overwhelming.
thank you
Ruthie

I am a caregiver for my Mom….she has dementia. Sometimes the toll of being a caregiver is to much to bear. I am with Mom 7 days a week and I have my alone time 8 days a month and when that time comes I look forward to having my alone time in the back yard. Well My back yard is horrible….so horrible that I sit on the side of the house and even that is scary…..I so desperatly need my space so I can sit back and enjoy so badly…..I cannot even let my animals out for fear of bears…..please help……..

We are in desperate need of a backyard makeover. We moved into our house 3 summers ago with our daughter who was 6 months at the time. Our little backyard served us well housing a sandbox, a slide, a bbq and a patio set. The best part about our little oasis was a huge tree that shaded the whole yard. Unfortunately last summer the tree that provided the lovely shade came crashing down on our home. We were extremely lucky and had minimal damage to the house however the removal of the tree destroyed the backyard and ended up costing over ten thousand dollars. We have been fortunate to give our daughter a brother just a few weeks ago and would love nothing more than to enjoy time as a family in our backyard however it is too much of a hazardous mess to do so. We would be so grateful for a backyard makeover and know we would enjoy it for years to come.
Yours truly,
The Dickie Family

I am entering my husband and two wonderfull boys 5 and 7 yrs old into this contest. Against all odds we managed to buy a house with a back yard for the boys last fall. The entire yard was filled with damaged old pine trees that we had taken down for safety. My husband has worked non stop to clean up decades of trash etc. Now we are left with patches of grass and dirt everywhere and nowhere for the boys to play. My husband and I are taking them to the park as they love to be outside. Our oldest was diagnosed with aspergers 3 years ago and is doing wonderful, but beeing outside playing is one of the things that relaxes him after school and it breaks my heart that we cant give him that at home. My husband has worked so hard on the yard for this and we don’t have the funds to do anything more. The grass seed he put down is unfortunately not growing dispite him using hours watering and researching. Please he deserves some help. And my boys need a back yard.

I would love to have backyard makeover our 3 year old son like to spend most of his time out door play with his father in the backyard that they both built together. His father is the gardener and our son is always the helper. It is amazing the amount of veggies they harvest each year is amazing.

Since my 10 year old daughter passed away I have wanted to create a meadow back yard full of wild flowers and maybe even a water feature. A sanctuary for me and my loved ones to remember as Hannah would say.

I am a registered nurse working full time with youth who have serious mental health needs. By the time I come home I just want to clear my mind and find tranquility. It would be so lovely to come home to a lovely backyard to relax in and clear my mind. Good luck to all !

You don’t want to hear my sob story, as i know every one has one. It would be so awesome to have a backyard makeover, as the fences, deck etc could all use some tlc. I would love to go sit outside on some patio furniture and see flowers or something. I hope some talent comes with this, as i have no idea what to do even. I think my neighbours would also appreciate this, family & friends too if it means i’ll invite them over. It was fabulous dreaming about this and someone will sure have fun!
