Fru-Gals Review ~ Ninja Coffee Bar System (CF092 Series)

March 9, 2017 by Fru-gal Leave a Comment

Ninja Coffee Bar System (CF092 Series)

Well, today was a bitter-sweet day for me… I retired my favourite coffeemaker (The Ninja Coffee Bar)… 🙁

…and replaced it with the Ninja Coffee Bar System! 🙂

As I set it on my countertop, it was love at first site. Like most Ninja products, the design is beautiful and you can quickly tell from handling it that it’s not built from cheap material (like you’ll find with most coffeemakers), this product is built to last! Even with the frequent, daily use of my older model, it looks just as good today as the day I took it out of the box.

I was quite impressed with how this model evolved from its predecessor… To begin with the Frother, now that it’s built-in and powered, I’ve found myself using it with practically every cup — whereas the manual Frother it came with before mostly stayed unused in my cupboard. I especially love how easily it detaches, cleans, reattaches, and neatly tucks away!

The integrated scoop was a nice touch too — When you live with a houseful of people, it’s not uncommon for things to get misplaced… This is less likely to happen now that it has a home. The double-sided scoop takes away all the guess work and makes sure you use the right amount of coffee for whatever size you brew.

The way the filter compartment pulls out is pretty slick — but the fact that you have to “lift out” the container for the disposable filter (or the reusable filter) makes it a tad difficult if the coffeemaker has cabinets above it… The previous models just slid right out making it easier to insert or remove the filters in tight spaces. But this is just a minor obstacle that is easily remedied by moving the appliance forward in to open space.

The Removable Water Reservoir is now so much easier to set back in place after it’s been filled… Before you had to line it up in position, then twist to lock it in… Now it just slides right in and you’re good to go!

In addition to Classic Brew, Rich Brew, Over Ice Brew and Specialty Brew, the “Cafe Forte” brew-type is also a new feature that was introduced — though I tend to stay loyal to my “Rich Brew” setting, the Cafe Forte brews a tasty full-flavoured cup of Joe that’s good enough to stand on its own without the help of milk or sweetener. If you’re serious about coffee, this setting was built for you.

The Brew Size dial gives you 6 settings to choose from… Whether it be a small 12oz cup to get you through the morning or a 50oz carafe for your dinner guests, a simple turn of the dial will ensure you use the perfect amount of water every time.

Another cool feature I could really appreciate was the “Clean Cycle Indicator” — I have no doubt that most people neglect coffeemakers when it comes to cleaning and understandably so… Out of sight, out of mind, right? I’ve been guilty of this myself… But the neglect ends here! The Ninja Coffee Bar System can actually sense calcium build-up and alert you when it needs to be cleaned! This can be done with a Descaling Cleaning Solution or simply with vinegar and water as described in the owners guide.

In a nutshell, I’ve always been a fan of the Ninja product line… It comes with a heavier price tag, but I can sleep well at night knowing that it was money well spent. You get what you pay for and you can tell the folks at Ninja really thought this one through to make a great product even greater! The coffee you get from this machine is nothing short from the coffee you would get at Tim Hortons, McCafe or even Starbucks… It’s that good! But tasty coffee is one thing, the simple (and strangely fun) process of making it is another — and this is where Ninja get’s it.

I can only imagine what the future holds for this product… Ninja, you’ve set the “Bar” high! (Pun intended!)  🙂
